Richard Bonelli : Jan Peerce (with Richard Bonelli) live in 1948 - "Amore o grillo" from "Madama Butterfly"
Jan Peerce and Richard Bonelli sing "Amore o grillo" from Puccini's "Madama Butterfly." This is from a 1948 performance of "Butterfly" in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Bowl which was broadcasted over the radio. Other cast members included Eleanor Steber and Suzanne Carre. The Hollywood Bowl orchestra is conducted by Eugene Ormandy. Unfortunately the sound quality is not great (probably because it was recorded with cheap equipment), as is the same with most Hollywood Bowl recordings from this era. This is, to my knowledge, the only full recording of "Butterfly" with Peerce. He didn't care for the opera much, or at least not the role of Pinkerton, and only performed it at the Met twice (both times also in 1948). This performance was not part of a Met tour.
