Matteo Macchioni was born in Sassuolo (Modena), and he has been studying music since he was a child. In October 2007 he gets his Master’s degree in pianoforte with honours. During the pianoforte studying years he carries out an intense concert activity and he begins to study Liric singing.
In June 2010 Matteo makes his opera debut at “Teatro Giuseppe Verdi” of Salerno as Nemorino in “Elisir D’amore” of Gaetano Donizetti, under the conduction of the Israeli Maestro Daniel Oren.
In the spring 2011, Matteo meets the bass baritone Natale De Carolis. Under his guide Matteo debuts and performs in the “Trapanese July Musical” Festival interepreting the role of Ernesto from the “Don Pasquale” of Gaetano Donizetti.
In June 2012 gets to the final round of “Toti Dal Monte” international singing contest. In September 2012 makes his successful debut at Stresa Festival, playing the role of the Count of Almaviva in The Barber of Seville by Gioacchino Rossini.
In 2014 he debuts in Puccini’s opera “Madame Butterfly”, along with a famous international cast, including the famous Soprano Daniela Dessì and the Tenor Fabio Armiliato, and in Mozart’s “Nozze di Figaro” with the Austrian conductor Johannes Wildner. Both operas are on stage at Genoa’s Opera House “Carlo Felice”. Matteo is one of the protagonists of Karol Wojtyla – The true story wich debuts at the Cracovia Opera House on the 2nd of April 2014 to then carry on to Rome, where Pope Giovanni Paolo II’s canonization is celebrated.
In June 2014, Matteo returns to Geona’s Opera House “Carlo Felice”, to interpret the Count of Almaviva from Baber of Seville by Gioacchino Rossini and in August he debuts in Viaggio a Reims (by the same composer), at the Rossini Opera Festival. In the autumn of the same year he performs Count of Almaviva from The barber of Seville at Verdi Theatre of Padova and Abate di Chazeuil from Adriana Lecouvreur by Francesco Cilea, on tour with “Circuito Lirico Lombardo” in the Theatres of Como (Sociale), Pavia (Fraschini), Cremona (Ponchielli) and Sassari (Verdi).
In 2015 Matteo sings The Barber of Seville in León (Mexico), he debuts in Britten’s Billy Budd conducted by Andrea Battistoni and directed by Davide Livermore at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Mozart’s Don Giovanni (as Don Ottavio) at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, conducted by John Battista Rigon and directed by Lorenzo Regazzo, he also appears in La gazza ladra at the Rossini Opera Festival, conducted by Donato Renzetti and directed by Damiano Michieletto and in The marriage of Figaro directed by Mario Martone and conducted by Stefano Montanari at Como, Cremona, Pavia, Brescia, Bergamo.
In 2016 he sings The marriage of Figaro at Taetro Regio di Parma and Teatro Valli of Reggio Emilia, debuts in Rossini’s La Cenerentola (as Don Ramiro) at Leipzig Oper (Germany), returns at Rossini Opera Festival in august 2016 for a Recital, and debuts in Donizetti’s Olivo e Pasquale at Donizetti Opera Festival in Bergamo.
In 2017 he debuts at Teatro alla Scala in Milan with Rossini’s Gazza Ladra (Isacco) conducted by Riccardo Chailly and staged by Gabriele Salvatores, he sings Ramiro (Cenerentola) at Firenze Opera (Maggio Musicale Fiorentino) and debuts in Rossini’s Mosè in Egitto at Bregenzer Festpiele.
Among his future commitments it will be noticed Barbiere di Siviglia at Teatro Sociale di Rovigo, the revival of La Cenerentola at Leipzig Oper for the 2017/18 season, and Barbiere di Siviglia at Royal Danish Theatre in Copenaghen.
