Antoni Matteo Garcia

I am an American music reviewer with strong Filipino and Spanish roots who is currently living in Berlin, Germany. I specialize in reviewing opera, classical music, Baroque music, musicals, ballet, albums of different kinds, and on some occasions, indie music, jazz, and modern music. On top of that, I love traveling all around the world. Whenever a holiday is afoot, I would definitely go out of my way to catch a performance and go to the place where it is done.

I have a great passion for opera, musical theater, chamber music, classical music, Baroque music, classical-crossover music, folk music, indie music, and jazz.

I started my YouTube video blogging career four years, on the night before I turned 21 years of age with a concert version of Gaetano Donizetti's Lucrezia Borgia at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, starring Edita Gruberova and Pavol Breslik. Even before all of the video blogging, I was an aspiring actor wanting to brush up my skills and find work as a stage, screen, and voice actor. Then came my first vlog-style review and it took off from there. Every time I go to a performance, it becomes my prerogative to see the best in everyone, from the singers all the way up to the conductor and even to the people behind the production, who goes on stage, while also pointing out what makes them good and what they need to work on.

I have a very soft spot for Bel Canto and Romantic Operas in general, mostly from the likes of Vincenzo Bellini, Gioacchino Rossini, Gaetano Donizetti, Saverio Mercadante, Giuseppe Verdi, Richard Wagner, Carl Maria von Weber, Giacomo Meyerbeer, Jacques Fromental Halevy, and Heinrich Marschner. I also love Verismo and modern operas and of course, operas composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Georg Friedrich Händel, and Christoph Willibald Glück.

My review scope is not just limited to music alone, I also cover Japanese anime, Western animation, and movies from all over the world and not just the ones made by Hollywood. If ever there is an animated installment where music is also a central theme, do also expect me to say my two cents on that installment.

Outside of being a reviewer, I am also an actor for film and theater, a singer on some occasions, and I do a good amount of voice acting. In terms of singing, I have been classically trained and I do branch out to singing folk music and contemporary. In terms of acting, I have been getting myself into many projects from student films to low-budget films to theater groups to various other venues and events.

So, that is me. I am certainly going to have a great time here and I hope you all enjoy what I have to offer.
