Dramatic soprano Yamina Maamar has sung at most of the major German theaters including Staatsoper München, Staatsoper Hannover, Aalto Theater Essen, Dortmund, Weimar, Schwerin, Heidelberg and Bremen, the Staatstheater Kassel, Nürnberg, Wiesbaden, Braunschweig and Darmstadt. On the international stage she has sung in the U.S.A., France, South Korea, Scotland, Belgium (Zomeropera Alden Biesen) and Switzerland.

In recent years, she made her debut with: Aida, Adriana Lecouvreur, Kundry (Parsifal), Senta (The Flying Dutchman), Marschallin (Der Rosenkavalier), Salome, Elisabeth (Don Carlos), Ariane (Ariane et Barbe-Bleue ), Fidelio – Leonore, Manon Lescaut (Puccini), Katerina Ismailowa (Lady Macbeth from Mzensk) and Kaiserin (Frau ohne Schatten). In total, she has performed more than 60 roles. Yamina Maamar is currently singing ”Brünnhilde” (Loriots Ring an einem Abend, Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland Pfalz) and ”Wozzeck – Marie” (Theater Hof). Forthcoming engagements include ”Isolde” (Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern, MIR Gelsenkirchen), ”Vier letzte Lieder” (Strauss, Neue Philharmonie Westfalen) and ”Lady Macbeth” (Verdi, Theater Hof).

In 2007 she made her USA debut in the Avery-Fisher-Hall (Lincoln Center) in New York. It was her first collaboration with Leon Botstein and the American Symphony Orchestra (”Grete” in ”Ferne Klang” by F. Schreker). In 2010, she was invited to sing the same role at the Sosnoff Theater in Bard in the United States, directed by Thaddeus Strassberger. Important stages in her concert career include the International Edinburgh Festival (including Wagner‘s ”Wesendonck-Lieder”), a tour of England and the Netherlands (orchestral songs, including ”Les nuits d‘été” by Berlioz), the Seoul Arts Center (Beethoven‘s 9th Symphony ), Berliner Dom (”Tove” in ”Gurre-Lieder”), the Herculessaal in Munich (”Isolde” in excerpts from ”Tristan and Isolde”), the ”Verdi-Requiem” with Enoch zu Guttenberg in the Speyer Cathedral, concerts in the main studio of the WDR in Cologne (including excerpts from ”Tannhäuser – Elisabeth” ) and recitals at the Apollosaal, Staatsoper Berlin as well as Kultursommer Nordhessen.

Yamina Maamar has worked with many renowned conductors and directors such as Constantin Trinks, Cornelius Meister, John Eliot Gardiner, Stefan Blunier, Antony Hermus, Alexander Joel and Patrik Ringborg as well as Christine Mielitz, John Dew, Michael Schulz, Konstanze Lauterbach and Gabriele Rech.

Yamina Maamar is one of the founders of the International Opera Academy IOA and assistant professor at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover.
