The Russian-American baritone, Vitali Rozynko, has dual citizenship in America and The Netherlands where he is currently resident.
He studied at the Oberlin Conservatory (B.M), The Eastman School of Music (M.M. with honours) and The Royal Academy of Music, London (Opera Programme). Vitali Rozynko performed Guglielmo Cosi fan tutte at the Aldeburgh Festival; Bello La fanciulla del West with The Santa Fe Opera. With Opera Colorado he appeared as Harlekin Ariadne auf Naxos and Schaunard La Bohème and was then invited to return in the title role of Don Giovanni. At Mississippi Opera he was Silvio I Pagliacci. His début with Boston Lyric Opera was in the role of Schaunard La Bohème, he sang the role of Escamillo Carmen with L’Opera Royal de Wallonie, Liege. Under Seiji Ozawa he performed Gendarme Les Mamelles de Tiresias at Tanglewood Festival.
Vitali Rozynko’s other roles include Masetto Don Giovanni under Colin Davis, Sid Albert Herring, Marcello La Boheme, Mr Bluff The Impresario, Tarquinius The Rape of Lucretia, Belcore L’elisir d’amore, Il Conte/Figaro Le nozze di Figaro, Nardo La finta giardiniera, Allazim Zaide, Salvatore The Saint of Bleecker Street under Richard Hickox, Spencer Coyle Owen Wingrave, Don Fernando Fidelio, Maximillian Candide, Falke Die Fledermaus, Germont La Traviata, Davenaut Der Vampyr, Nicomedes Der König Kandaules (Zemlinsky), and Sancta Susanna (Hindemith).
In the contemporary music field Vitali Rozynko has performed a number of pieces including
Deceit in The Triumph of Beauty and Deceit by Gerald Barry with the Ives Ensemble, and the bass solo in Jetzt immer Schnee by Sofia Gubaidulina and conducted by Reinbert de Leeuw.
Vitali Rozynko has a busy concert diary. He made his debut with the Boston Symphony Orchestra under Seiji Ozawa in a concert performance of Madama Butterfly performing the role of the Imperial Commissioner. He has appeared with Le Palais des Beaux Arts, L’ Orchestre National d’Ile de France, Symfonie Orkest Vlaanderen, and the Niew Ensemble under Ed Spanjaard. With the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra he has sung the baritone solo in the Lyrische Symphonie by Zemlinsky and with the American Bach Solists he sang Bach Cantatas at the Berkeley Festival. He appears regularly at The Concertgebouw with various ensembles and orchestras and has also performed at the Ravinia Festival and at the Wigmore Hall. Other concert repertoire includes Messiah, Verdi’s Requiem, Mozart’s Requiem, Bernstein’s Mass, I pellegrini del sepolcro del nostro Signore (Johann Hasse) and Carmina Burana.
