The Norwegian born soprano Vibeke Kristensen is educated at the Norwegian Academy of Music and finished her studies at the Royal Danish Opera Academy in the summer of 2006.
Her recent engagements include a.o. Erste Dame/Die Zauberflöte in Operaen i Kristiansund in February 2016.
Future engagements include 2 Niece/Peter Grimes with Bergen National Opera at Bergen Festspillene and at Edingburgh Festival in May-August 2017.
Her engagements in season 2012/13 include both Susanna in Figaro’s Wedding at The Danish National Opera and First Lady in Die Zauberflöte at Den Norske Opera.
Vibeke Kristensen made her professional operatic debut as Despina in Cosi fan Tutte, in a young artist’s production directed by Tom Krause, performed at the Savonlinna Opera Festival in 2003. In 2004 she made her debut at the Royal Opera, Copenhagen as Amor in Gluck’s Orfeo e Euridice.
In the following years she has done several roles at Royal Opera, Copenhagen: Sophie (Werther) and Adéle in Die Fledermaus, the latter conducted by Manfred Honeck. Yniold in Pelleas et Melisande, directed by Guy Joosten, Adéle in a revival of Fledermaus and the part of a Waternymph in Rusalka.
Her repertoire also includes Frasquita (Carmen), Ännchen (Der Freischütz) and Susanna in Figaros Wedding.
Recent productions has a world premiere on the Norwegian opera Norge-Brasil at Opera Nordfjord, the character Snow White in Snow White’s Mirror at The Danish National Opera in 2010/11.
In season 2011/12 she sang First Lady (Die Zauberflöte) at Opera Nordfjord, Norway, Zerlina at The Danish National Opera and Papagena at The New Opera in Esbjerg, Denmark.
Vibeke is also a frequent recitalist in oratories and masses, including Mozart’s Requiem, Mass in B minor, Christmas oratorio, St Matthew passion by J.S. Bach. She has performed with most of the major orchestras in both Denmark and her home country, Norway, in a wide-ranged repertoire.
