Lyric baritone Tristan Faes studied choir conducting and singing at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, where he also followed masterclasses with Udo Reinemann and Carole Yahr. He obtained his master degree at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent, where he studied with bass-baritone Gidon Saks.
As a student, he sang in operas like "La Dafne", "Dido and Aeneas" and "Die Fledermaus".In 2008-2009, Tristan studied at "Flanders Operastudio" in Ghent, following masterclasses with Ann Murray, Christoph Prégardien and Pietro Rizzo. During his time at the Operastudio he sang, apart from many concerts, Pelléas in "Impressions de Pelléas", produced by Vincent Broussard.
Tristan Faes made his professional debut in October 2008 singing Papageno at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie (Liège). In the same theatre, he could be heard als Schaunar (La Bohème), Trenitz (La Fille de Mme Angot) and Rufus (Sybil et les Silhouettes). He also sang Schaunard at the Nederlandse Reisopera in 2011 and 2013. This production toured in the Summer of 2013 through England, as a part of Dorset Opera Festival.
Next to his work in opera, Tristan is active as concert singer. As such, he worked with conductors such as Michel Tabachnik, Richard Egarr and Yannick Nezet-Séguin.
