Timofei Baranov is a very young and talented Russian baritone born on 20 June 1989 in Ulyanovsk.
He began his studies in Moscow at the Alfred Schnittke Institute of Music under the guidance of Margarita Sciadrina. Then, after he moved to Italy, in 2014 he continued his studies at the Gaetano Donizetti Institute of Music in Bergamo with Paola Romano, in 2015 he joined the Music School in Milano where he studied with Carlo Gaifa and finally, in the biennium 2016-2017, he worked as soloist in the Fabbrica Young Artist Program held by the Opera House in Rome.
Despite his young age, Timofei has already a great experience in opera singing with lots of concerts and performances all over the world. Among these we remember his performances at the Opera House in Rome in the both role of Schmidt and Dumas in Andrea Chérnier (Roberto Abbado conductor), as Ciambellano in Lo scoiattolo in gamba by Nino Rota (Luca Bargagna director and Carlo Donadio conductor), the role of Marullo in Rigoletto (Leo Muscato director and Michele Gamba conductor). In 2015 Timofei has performed also at the Rosetum Theatre in Milan in the opera Der Kaiser von Atlantis by Viktor Ullman (Luca Benatti director and Eleonora Firenze conductor).
Regarding his experiences abroad he used to perform at the Alfred Schnittke Institute in Moscow: in 2014 he sang in Don Giovanni as Don Giovanni and in 2013 in La Bohéme as Marcello.
Besides its activities as an opera singer, he has cultivated a large experience in concerts; in 2015 he performed at the Riva Music Festival extracts from I Puritani, Macbeth and Don Giovanni.
He is winner in lots of International Competitions: in 2013 he has been a winner at the 6th International Competition of Opera Singers in Saint Petersburg and at the International Music Competition Perpetum Mobile in Holland, in 2015 has won a scholarship at the Riccardo Zandonai Competition in Riva del Garda, and has been finalist at the Young lyric singers of Teatro alla Scala and third prize at the Lyric Voices Competition in Firenze.
