During the 2015/2016 season, Tiago will join again an Opéra national de Paris (OnP) production playing Il Conte di Ceprano in Rigoletto (Verdi). He will also continue with the french tour Les Caprices de Marianne (Sauget), playing Le Chanteur de Sérénade. Also he’ll perform the title role in Don Giovanni (Mozart) with the festival Prague Summer Nights, at the Estates Theater, where the opera was first presented.
After that Tiago will be Mercutio in Roméo et Juliette (Gounod) with the Savannah Voice Festival. In December 2016 he will join the Gulbenkian Choir and Orchestra for the television broadcast of the Te Deum (Charpentier), in the São Roque church, Lisbon.
Tiago Matos is an awarded baritone, having won the first prize and prize for Best Interpretation of Lied/Mélodie in the VI Portuguese Rotary Foundation Singing Competition and the second prize in the 2012 edition of the Portuguese Prémio Jovens Músicos.
He was a member of the Atelier Lyrique de l’OnP between 2012 and 2014. During these two seasons he performed Enrico in Isola Disabitata (Haydn), Bonafede in Il Mondo della Luna (Haydn), Junius in The Rape of Lucretia (Britten) and the title role in Don Giovanni (Mozart). He also did several concerts in Amphithéâtre Bastille and Palais Garnier.
Tiago made his debut in the main season of the OnP last season playing Fiorello in Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini), along with Un Chevalier in Le Roi Arthus (Chausson). Other major opera roles include Il Conte in Le Nozze di Figaro (Mozart), Peter in Hänsel und Gretel (Humperdinck), Jupiter in Orphée aux enfers (Offenbach), Bandido and Sábio in A Floresta (Carrapatoso), O Mestre de Música, a portuguese version of II Maestro di Capella (Cimarosa). In concert, he was a soloist in Lieder eines Fahrenden Gesellen (Mahler), 9th Symphony (Beethoven), Messiah (Händel), Messa di Gloria (Puccini), Requiem (Fauré), Passio (Pärt), among others.
Tiago Matos obtained his degree in Music - Singing from the University of Aveiro, Portugal, where he studied under the supervision of Isabel Alcobia and António Chagas Rosa. He attended several master classes and summer programs such as the Académie Mozart du Festival d’Aix-en-Provance, Académie Internationale de Musique Française Michel Plasson and the Voice Experience Foundation working with Sherrill Milnes, Chris Cano, Tito Capobianco, Joan Dornemann, Sophie Koch, José Van Dam, Ann Murray, Eugene Kohn, Tom Krause, Michael Rhodes, among others. At this moment he is studying with Michelle Wegwart.
