Born in a family of long musical tradition, Ralph SZIGETI begins to study the violin at the age of 6 with his father, Florin SZIGETI, founding member of the ENESCO Quartet. After graduating with a 1st Prize from the Paris Region Conservatory, he starts playing viola in September 2006 and 4 month later he enters the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris (CNSMDP) in Sabine TOUTAIN’s viola class. During his training, Ralph Szigeti has received the teachings of, and played with several prestigious artists such as Wolfram Christ, Sadao Harada, Nobuko Imai, Garth Knox, Vladimir Mendelssohn, Seiji Ozawa, Hagai Shaham, Jean Sulem, Richard Wolfe, the Tokyo Quartet, and the Wiener Philharmoniker Orchester. He also performed in several festivals, such as the Pablo Casals Festival – Prades, the Santander Encounters, the Seiji Ozawa Academy and the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival.
After advanced Analysis, Music History, and Harmony studies, Ralph starts taking conducting lessons under Adrian McDonnell’s and Dominique Rouits's teaching, and obtains a conducting Diploma from the Alfred Cortot Ecole Normale de Musique. He is now Principal Viola of the Douai Orchestra and Principal Viola of the Liège Philharmonic Royal Orchestra.
