The argentinian soprano Mercedes Gancedo make superior singing studies at the Instituto Superior de Arte of the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires. Had continued her academic attainments with teachers like Jaume Aragall, Eduard Giménez, Alicia Nafé, Teresa Berganza, Mirella Freni, Montserrat Caballé, Raquel Pierotti, Cecilia Bartoli, among others.She makes her debut in 2008 with Despina (Così fan tutte) at Teatro Roma, Buenos Aires. She also sung “The Fairy Queen” with Jeffrey Gall and Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro). In 2009 she receives the award as an international promising young singer from the Critics Asociation of Argentinian Republic.
In Spain, sings Gianetta (Elisir d’Amore) in Summer Festival of Calella, Mariana (Das Liebesverbot) in Castell Peralada Festival, Berta (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) at Teatro Campoamor de Oviedo and Teatro Jovellanos de Gijón. She has been selected in AAOS Opera Studio for performing Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) and Alisa (Lucia di Lammermoor). Her last musical performances includes Clarina (La Cambiale di Matrimonio) for Òpera de Cambra de Barcelona and her debut of the role Micaela (Carmen) at Palau de la Música Catalana.
She got a scholarship to the Fundación de Música de Cámara (Lieder and chamber music studies) for 5 consecutive years for work with Pff. Wilheim Opitz. She is currently on scholarship for private lessons of Proff. Jaume Aragall and at EsMUC on the Lied and Spanish song Master “Victoria de los Ángeles”.
She has won a number of international awards in several singing contests, among them, the 4º prize for the youngest singer at Competizione dell’Opera in 2008 (Dresden, Germany), Emmerich Smola (Saarbrücken/Landau), studies grant from Diputación de Barcelona at Francisco Viñas, 1º prize at CIM singing competition (Barcelona), the award “La Voz de más Porvenir” at the International Singing Contest of Logroño City, 1º prize at chamber music constest XXI Pòdiums de Música (Barcelona), 1º prize at XIII “Luis Mariano” international singing contest (Irún). He was a finalist at several singings contests, such as Neue Stimmen, Montserrat Caballé, Klaudia Taev (Pärnu), among others.
