A native of Sofia, Bulgaria, Kiril Havezov has performed regularly with the largest opera theaters in Bulgaria, including Sofia National Opera, Bulgarian National Music Theater, Ruse State Opera and many more. In 2013 he sang the role of Count Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro) in China for Opera Art Lirica. Since his debut on the American opera stage on September 2014 he has performed regularly with Opera San Jose, West Bay Opera, Livermore Valley Opera, New Opera NYC, Island City Opera and others.
Significant roles performed by Mr. Havezov over the last few years includes Count di Luna (Il Trovatore), Renato (Un Ball in maschera), Gianni Schicchi, Zupan (The Gypsy Baron), Sharpless and Bonzo (Madama Butterfly), Belcore (L’elisir d’Amore), Gaudenzio (Il signor Bruschino), Schaunard (La Boheme), Ibn-Khakia (Yolanta), Cascada (The Merry Widow), Gasparo (Rita), Sonora (La fanciulla del West), Haly (L’italiana in Algeri), Almaviva and Antonio (Le Nozze di Figaro), Monterone (Rigoletto) and many more.
On the concert stage, Mr. Havezov has been a soloist with numerous ensembles, including the Pleven Philharmonic Orchestra and the Bulgarian National Music Academy Orchestra. He has made several recordings for the Bulgarian National Radio. As a stage actor, Mr. Havezov has appeared in many theater productions and several movies of Bulgarian National Television. He also works as a journalist, writes for Capital Weekly, a business newspaper in Bulgaria, and has a Ph.D. in Graphic Design.
