In 2016, Ms. Hogan sings Brünnhilde in the complete “Ring Cycle” Hogan outa the building (Der Ring des Nibelungen) with Opera North in England, as well as singing Verdi’s Requiem with the South Dakota Symphony, and the title role in Turandot in Kassel, Germany.
Last season included Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk at the Metropolitan Opera, Salome with Virginia Opera, a concert with the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra, and Verdi’s Macbeth with Opera North in England.
At the Metropolitan Opera, Ms. Hogan sang Gerhilde in the premiere of the Robert LePage production of Die Walküre conducted by James Levine, and returned in subsequent seasons for performances with Maestro Fabio Luisi. Additional Met appearances include the acclaimed Patrice Chereau staging of Janáček’s From the House of the Dead conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen, as well as Gerhilde in the historic Otto Schenk production of Die Walküre with maestros James Levine, Lorin Maazel and Donald Runnicles.
Other recent performances for Ms. Hogan included a return to Virginia Opera as Blanche DuBois in Andre Previn’s A Streetcar Named Desire, excerpts from Tristan und Isolde with the Anchorage Symphony, and a last-minute trip to England to fill in for an ailing colleague as Brünnhilde in Die Walküre with Opera North.
Ms. Hogan has worked in opera houses throughout Germany. At the Staatstheater in Kassel she sang Elisabeth in Tannhäuser, Leonora in Fidelio and the title role in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk.
In Bremen she sang Norma, Nabucco, Salome, Turandot and the Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier. In the historic theater in Schwerin Ms. Hogan sang her first Elisabeth in Tannhäuser and her first Senta in Der Fliegende Holländer. In Weimar she jumped in last minute for Tosca, and in Kiel sang one of her favorite roles – Turandot.
A popular portrayer of Strauss’ Salome, Ms. Hogan has sung the role with The Polish National Opera, Bremen Opera (Germany), Florentine Opera, Virginia Opera, Opera Company of North Carolina, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, and Portland Opera, as well as performing the role on tour throughout Japan.
In the U.S., Ms. Hogan has worked with Washington Opera, New York City Opera, San Francisco Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Palm Beach Opera, Portland Opera, Cleveland Opera, Nashville Opera, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Baltimore Opera, Utah Opera, Birmingham and Florentine Opera among others. On the concert stage, she has sung with the Dallas Symphony, Syracuse Symphony, South Dakota Symphony, Montgomery Symphony, Anchorage Symphony, Trenton Symphony, Maine Pro Musica Orchestra, Romanian Philharmonic, Orquesta Nacional de Costa Rica and Orchestre Philharmonique de Nice.
A native of Iowa, Ms. Hogan was a winner of the American Opera Auditions and a New York winner of the MacAllister Awards. As a winner of the Liederkranz competition she sang a debut concert in Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center.
She and her husband have homes in Manhattan and Lexington, South Carolina where they share a private music studio. Ms. Hogan is also currently serving on the voice faculty at Indiana University.
