During the current season Keith Bernard can be heard as a featured soloist in many concerts including Dvorak’s Stabat Mater in Köln, Händel’s Israel in Egypt in the Netherlands, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria in Dortmund. In addition, he can be heard as a featured soloist in Ulrich Rasche’s music-theater double bill of Sieben gegen Theben/Antigone at the Schauspiel Frankfurt.
In the 2015-16 season, Keith Bernard was heard at the Cologne Opera as Freddie in My Fair Lady, and as the Male Chorus in Rape of Lucretia. In 2016, Keith Bernard Stonum will return to Theater Aachen to sing Pedrillo in Mozart’s Entführung and Wenzel in Die Verkaufte Braut.
In Summer 2014, Keith Bernard sang Hans Zender’s composed interpretation of Schubert’s Winterreise under the baton of Teodor Currentzis at the Athens Festival. In the same year, he guested in Frankfurt Opera’s Der Vampyr (Marschner) and also with the Schauspiel Frankfurt in a widely publicized project directed by Hamburg-based musician Schorsch Kamerun. In Winter 2013, he created the role of the climatologist Trésor Kolombo for the world premiere of Anno Schreier’s Prinzessin im Eis at the Aachen Theater. Also in Winter 2013, he sang the tenor soloist in Mendelssohn’s Paulus. In Fall 2013, he gave his first performances of Zender’s Winterreise at the Klangspuren Festival in Innsbruck. In Summer 2013, he celebrated a triumphant debut as Don Ottavio with the Jeunesses Musicales in Weikersheim in a production conceived and directed by Dominick Wilgenbus, under the baton of Bruno Weil. In February 2013, he sang Kaiser Otto in a highly publicized student production of Johann Simon Mayr’s Adelasia ed Aleramo, directed by Tilman Knabe with musical direction by Andreas Spering.
Originally from Texas, young lyric tenor Keith Bernard Stonum completed his bachelor studies at the Shepherd School of Music with J. Stephen King. He completed his master studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt with Hedwig Faßbender. He is currently a member of the International Opera Studio at the Cologne Opera.
