Countertenor John Lattimore read Music at St John's College, Cambridge where he was a choral scholar, and trained at the Royal Academy of Music. He went on to further studies with English National Opera on their Operaworks programme.
Recent opera engagements include creating the principal role of The Son in Benjamin Tassie’s The Anatomy of Melancholy with Bodycorps and the cover of Countertenor 2 inJohn Adams The Gospel According to the Other Mary for English National Opera; roles in The Fairy Queen for Bury Court Opera; Pastore L'Orfeo with the Salzburger Konzertgesellschaft/Konstantin Hiller (in concert); Young Encolpius in Arne Gieshoff Viagron at the Tête-à-Tête Festival; Spirit in Kettlehead by Darren Bloom for SizeZero Opera, soloist in Stockhausen Mittwoch aus Licht with Birmingham Opera, soloist in John Ramster's staging of Messiah with the Merry Opera Company and Athamas Semele with Hampstead Garden Opera.
In addition he has appeared as a member of the ensemble for L'Orfeo with Les Talens Lyriques under Christophe Rousset in both Paris and at Opéra National de Lorraine and in Acis and Galatea at the Iford Festival with Christian Curnyn and The Early Opera Company.
In the 15/16 season John will sing Nutrice L’Incoronazione di Poppea and Pisandro Il Ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria with the Academy of Ancient Music / Egarr and further ahead his plans include Countertenor 2 in Peter Sellars’ production of John Adams’ The Gospel According to the Other Mary with Theater Bonn.
