Born in Florence, Gianluca Margheri began to study music dramaturgy in his home town, bevor he started to study singing at the conservatory “Cherubini” in Florence. He attend plenty of master classes, amongst others, by Carlo Miliciani, Josef Loibl, Sherman Lowe, Michele Pertusi and Ildebrando D’Arcangelo, before he gave in 2004 his stage debut as Marchese d’Obigny/LA TRAVIATA under the baton of Jonathan Webb at Teatro Verdi in Pisa, as well as at the theatres of Lucca and Livorno. At the same houses and under the same conductor, he gave his role debut as Demetrius in a MIDSUMMER NIGHT`S DREAM.
In the following seasons he gave his debut as Conte di Almaviva/LE NOZZE DI FIGARO at Teatro G. Magnani in Fidenza, as Slook/LA CAMBIALE DI MATRIMONIO in Arezzo, and in the title role of DON GIOVANNI in a tour throughout Brazil. He sung Enea/DIDO AND AENEAS and SATYRICON at the opera houses of Livorno, Lucca and Pisa. At the Arena di Verona he was seen as Dottor Bilenski in ALFRED,ALFRED of Franco Donatoni. Furthermore he sung Schaunard/LA BOHEME at Teatro Comunale in Modena, Crisobolo/L´IMPRESARIO IN ANGUSTIE in Cortona and Jesus/QUEM QUERITIS under Federico Bardazzi at Innsbruck Festival.
To Gianlucas repertoire belongs in addition Guglielmo/COSI FAN TUTTE and DER JASAGER and DIE SIEBEN TODSÜNDEN. At Teatro Real Madrid he gave his debut as Villotto/LA VERA COSTANZA, he sung Masetto/DON GIOVANNI in Florence and Barone/LA TRAVIATA at Opera Trieste. At Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence he was seen as Fiorello/IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA and in Verona he sung Lescaut/MANON LESCAUT. With Mercurio/ L`INCORONAZIONE DI POPPEA he returned to Innsbruck Festival and sung the role of Conte Paris/ROMEO ET JULIETTE at the opening of the Opera in Sassari.
In the last season he sung Fiorello/IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA at the Opera Rome, Il Principe Yamadori/MADAME BUTTERFLY at Opera Sassari and Lord Gualtiero Walton/I PURITANI at the Opera Florence. At the Hungarian State Opera Budapest he was seen in the title role of DON GIOVANNI and at Maggio Musicale Firoentino sung Rossini’s STABAT MATER.
In the current season he will sing Alidoro/LA CENERENTOLA at Teatro Massimo Palermo.
Besides his operatic career, Gianluca is an enthusiastic concert singer. His repertoire contains amongst others Charpentier’s TE DEUM, Händel’s MESSIAH, the KRÖNUNGSMESSE, the mass K427 and Mozart’s REQUIEM, G. Faué’s REQUIEM as well as EIN DEUTSCHES REQUIEM of Brahms.
Virgin Classic released a CD of Händels DEIDAMIA under the baton of Alan Curtis, furthermore Gianluca took part in a DVD production of LA BELLA DORMENTE NEL BOSCO of Ottorino Respighi.
